The genesis of Sophomores High lies in the realization that the Indian education system and new-age global work culture are not in sync. The country’s education system relies heavily on high grades but leaves Indian students inadequately prepared to compete with the modern workforce. On the other hand, foreign students are able to adapt to the corporate environment more easily due to prior internship experience. Thus, to bridge this gap, and enable a smooth transition from academics to a professional environment, we at Sophomores High curated innovative internship programs as part of career exploration for high school students. Sophomores High aims to provide Indian students with a platform to explore diverse career paths before selecting their profession. Our unique mentoring program also acquaints them with real-world situations through case studies that engage their problem-solving skills. We empower students with 21st-century skills and impressive resumes so that they can achieve academic and professional excellence.

Sophomores High is the brainchild of Satyashree Narayan – an educator and banking professional – who decided to put Indian students on the map of coveted global universities through resume building and early corporate experience.

Satyashree has spent 15 years in the education sector as a high-school teacher, teacher trainer, and product head of an overseas education consultancy among others. She had worked extensively in the banking and assurance industry. Over the span of 25 years, she realized that Indian students are not equipped to handle the pressure that might accompany their dream jobs. Satyashree witnessed the inadequacies in the Indian education ecosystem first-hand — first as a student and later as an educator, and decided to work towards improving the situation. Thus, Satyashree leveraged her experience, understanding and connections to build a legion of subject matter experts who would groom the 21st-century skills of high school students. Her insights, vision, and cogency are now part of the curriculum at Sophomores High to bring Indian students up to pace with their western counterparts. The programs at Sophomores High will ensure the wholesome development of students with pre-requisite skills and a robust resume to gain acceptance at foreign universities as well as real-world experience with case studies and virtual internships. Satyashree believes that Indian students can emerge as next-generation leaders and wants to establish Sophomores High as a catalyst that would lead this transformation.
